The process by which Forgers create their creations is never explained. People with forging abilities – known as Forgers – can create seemingly magical objects, such as doors disguised as mirrors, helmets that can conjure the wearer’s nightmares, and golden flowers.

As explained in the beginning, mysterious objects known as the Babel Fragments are the source of power for individuals with forging abilities. However, I have multiple areas of discontent.Īs the book progressed, I became more confused about the world-building. I thought the representation of a character with autism was incredible.īecause of its depth and fast pace, I liked this novel. She has trouble expressing her feelings, but her friends always understand what she is trying to say. She counts objects to calm herself and is extremely interested in math. Zofia detests crowds, prefers to be alone, and struggles with social interactions and social cues. One of the best examples of depth in this book is the perspective of a person with autism: Zofia. Roshani Chokshi explores topics of colonialism, ethnic and racial identities, bullying, and autism.

But The Gilded Wolves isn’t merely a fast-paced action, fantasy novel.

I enjoyed the fast-paced action of the novel there was never a slow moment. Set in the year 1899, in Paris, is a multiple-perspective novel following the heists of Séverin, Zofia, Enrique, Tristan, and Laila.
